liugnoservo.zip |
liugnoservo.zip contains two files, both of which should go
into your Downloads folder, just as you do with any other
downloaded object.
One of the two files is liugnofountain.iff; a nice enough
fountain, but what's special is that it creates a Sim called
GnoServo. The fountain is decorative/+, price $700.
liugnoservo.iff is the file that defines GnoServo.
GnoServo is a non-playable character who wanders around your
lot all the time, and cleans and gardens and repairs. He looks
strangely familiar...
A very special thing is that GnoServo will take care of babies
or dragon eggs, churn butter, spin thread, make honey (so that
Claire the Bear can steal it), press nectar, tend vines, and
make preserves; and You can expect that he may be updated
with additional functions in the future.
Unlike other NPCs, GnoServo can be talked to. You can ask him
to Join in a game of chess, or even invite him to join your
family (results are not guaranteed, a family-member GnoServo
may not work well). GnoServo does not initiate interactions.
Yes, I had problems getting GnoServo to talk to people, but
now that I have gotten him to tend babies or dragon eggs, the
possibilities are unlimited. This version of liugnoservo can
be considered as a snapshot of a work in progress.
GnoServo and his fountain require no expansion packs!
GnoServo is in some ways a regular person, not an NPC. As
a result, he cannot pass through any NPC-only doors except
liugnonpcframe, which has been updated with special code to
permit this.
GnoServo has existed for months. He works with no EPs, so I
used him in The (original) Sims. Only recently has he been
upgraded with all these special functions; the key was to
completely discard the execrable Maxis code for the control
loop and start fresh.

liugnoflyswat.zip | GnoFlySwat == the Pachyderm Pest Remover
This elephant uses its ears to swat flies and its feet to
stomp roaches, all without ever moving.
(New and improved! It gets rid of Unleashed mice, gophers,
and bunnies unless you have a cat who needs them for training!)
Note: liugnoflyswat does nothing about the flies over
spoiled food. It gets rid of the free-ranging fly swarms.)
The fly and roach swarms are a stupid design decision. It
is no fun to spend all your time cleaning the house; even
with self-cleaning toilets, self-deleting food, automatic
deletion of old newspapers, an hourly Servo, all Sims in
the household with maximum Neat personality, and the maid,
these pests can still appear; when a Sim is interrupted
and leaves a partially-eaten plate of food, nobody will
clean it up, and flies/roaches appear.
GnoFlySwat corrects this bad design decision by
high-handedly, or perhaps high-trunkedly, deleting all
flies and roaches once every quarter hour or so;
if you get swarms of vultures, you will have to deal
with them yourself.
It also is an ordinary end table, with the usual
enhancements: walk-through, great room score, free
placement, and so on.
GnoFlySwat was made from Double Deluxe, but probably
requires a lesser expansion pack, and certainly will not
work if you just have the Sims and no expansion packs.
You don't really want to have more than one of it in a
household, but I hadn't developed the technique of
enforcing uniqueness when this was made. | |
liugnonpcbook.zip | This bookcase can only be used by NPCs. It should be used to furnish the Servants' Quarters in your mansion.
It has long been my practice to put Servo in a little closet of his
own, using the liugnonpcframe NPC-only door. (liugnoservowake wakes
him up once an hour, so the Sims naver have a reason to go in there.)
It occurred to me that it would be nice if Servo had a whole room,
or even a whole apartment, with his own bookcase.
The maid (or Servo wearing his cleaning hat) will never ever use
the liugnobook bookcase if there is a liugnonpcbook NPC-only bookcase
on the lot.

It occurred to me that it would be nice if Servo had a whole room,
or even a whole apartment, with his own easel and bookcase and
chess set; so I made these!
The NPC-only easel always keeps the gardener
from using the normal liugnoeasel; these things are part of SkillSet
Release 3.1
The NPC-only easel paints only one kind of picture (new artwork here),
and it keeps track of how much money Servo has earned in preparation
for the long-delayed project, "Freedom for Servo", which will allow
Servo to buy his freedom.

liugnonpcframe.zip |
This small door can only be used by NPCs.
It is small because unnecessary things have been removed.
Liugnonpcframe is updated along with SkillSet 3.1, in a way
that ties in to my soon-to-be-seen liugnoservo...
It is part of my little "Servants' Quarters" set.
As always with restricted doors, you can drive your Sims crazy by
putting an object they want to use in a room they can't reach.

liugnoservowake.zip | GnoServoWake == Automated Robot Launcher
Are you bored with turning on Servo? Now your laziness can
plumb new depths, as this endtable contains a transponder
and nanoprocessor which automate even that trivial task.
This is an essential object; I can't imagine how anybody
lives without it.
Once an hour, this end table tries to wake up the robot,
but of course you must have the Maxis "Introducing Servo"
object in your house for it to do any good. No harm is
done if Servo is already awake or has no work to do.
It was a stupid design decision from Maxis that forces the
player to find a free Sim and click on Servo's docking
station to wake it up. This object corrects that.
It also is an ordinary end table, with all the usual
enhancements: lit, walk-through, great room score,
and so on.
GnoServoWake requires House Party or greater.
You don't really want to have more than one of it in a
household.
